LOVING A PRODIGAL: Embracing Grace

foreword

On June 2 every year hundreds of us come together—virtually—to pray for wandering loved ones. These devotions on Loving a Prodigal: Embracing Grace were written to help us prepare for that June 2 Worldwide Day of Prayer for Prodigals.

From my own experience, and that of many others I know who have lived with and loved a prodigal, the challenges of daily life are often beyond human capacity and require extravagant amounts of grace.

Our God has much experience loving prodigals—He loves us. He goes with us on this journey, He comforts us, He gives hope, He relieves our fears.

And He gives grace—for all our inadequacies and mistakes, and for the pain experienced by and caused by those we love so much.

Let’s accept His amazing offer extended in our theme verse, Hebrews 4:16:

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
