Dear Friend,
I am so grateful for you. And eager to tell you about wonderful happenings over the past two months.
HOUSE OF HOPE
Almost 30 years ago, our adopted son was increasingly in trouble. He ended up at House of Hope, a program for troubled teens. He met Jesus there, and then spent 15 years in a wilderness journey, sometimes trying to walk with Jesus, other times far from Him. He is now in a good place—married with three children, working hard drilling water wells, and managing their small farm.
I have been on the National Board of Directors of House of Hope for 10 years. We just celebrated 40 years of HOH, and I was asked to share a little about our journey.
TRU316 AND A SWEET AWARD
Tru316 is a ministry focused on Bible translation from the original languages. They are doing good work. They give a “Medallion Award” each year, and I was blessed to receive it three weeks ago for a lifetime of service to the Lord. You can learn more about Tru316 at https://tru316.com. And you can watch the award ceremony, which includes a photo video of my Cru career and some nice things that were said about me.
SPEAKING TO AFRICAN WIDOWS IN RWANDA
For three mornings last week I was on Zoom with about 15 widows—some staff and some disciples—talking about my journey and how God has walked with me every step since Steve left, and how God created each of us as “works of art” for the good plans He has already prepared for us (Ephesians 2:10). I loved the interaction. Here’s a recording of the final message:
PIONEER WOMEN OF CRU
It has been a dream of mine to produce a book that tells some of the stories of the women who were part of the early expansion of our ministry and the creative efforts over the years. A first volume is almost ready to go to print. It will feature 15 women and will be available in time for the Cru25 staff conference in July!!! You can pray for me as I write the story on Vonette Bright. And yes, that is me speaking in the picture below.
You are such a blessing to me. Your prayers and gifts keep me moving forward to each opportunity God provides. I would love to know some specific ways I can pray for you.
