Culture Rebel: because the world has enough desperate housewives by Connie Jakab

Culture Rebel is about a different way of living, a transformational way of seeing the culture we live in. It calls for rebellion to the negative messages culture preaches from all its mediums. Connie is passionate about rebelling against status quo living. She is an active member of poverty reduction in her city, the founder of WILD (women impacting lives daily) as well as Mpact, a dance company that produces shows based on social justice issues.  She can be found at her website, on Facebook  and on Twitter @ConnieJakab.

Refuse to Do Nothing: Finding Your Power to Abolish Modern-Day Slaveryby Shayne Moore and Kimberly McOwen Yim

Slavery didn’t end in 1833, when William Wilberforce’s decades-long campaign finally resulted in the Slavery Abolition Act. It didn’t end in 1863, when Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. It didn’t end in 1949, when the United Nations declared trafficking “incompatible with the dignity and worth of the human person.” The sad truth is, slavery never ended. It just went underground, where it continues to exploit powerless men, women and children in horrific ways throughout the world. Now for the good news: you have power. In Refuse to Do Nothing, “Abolitionist Mamas” Shayne Moore and Kimberly Yim share their stories of coming to terms with the power available to them in their normal, everyday lives.

Shayne Moore is also the author of GLOBAL SOCCER MOM: Changing the World Is Easier Than You Think. She co-founded Redbud Writers Guild, an international group of women expanding the feminine voice in church and culture. She is a member of the World Vision Speakers Bureau and works closely with World Vision Women of Vision Chapters, World Relief, ONE and was a founding member of the ONE Moms Advisory Council. You can find her on Facebook, on Twitter @globalsoccermom and at her website.

Kimberly Yim is the founder of San Clemente Abolitionists, a group of local women who work to educate and empower our community on the issue of human trafficking/modern-day slavery, and the Executive Director of the SOCO Institute. Check Kim out on Facebook,  on Twitter @abolitionistmom and on her blog.

She’s Got Issues: (with seriously good news for stressed out, secretly scared control freaks like us) by Nicole Unice

In She’s Got Issues, Christian counselor, ministry leader, and regular mom Nicole Unice explores the ordinary issues that are keeping you from the full and free life you were meant to have. Applying years of counseling with practical scriptural teaching and a fresh and authentic voice, Nicole shows you how to let God freely shape your character—and transform your life from ordinary to abundant.

Nicole is a fresh voice for the next generation. Part bible teacher, part community organizer, part busy mom–Nicole has the uncanny ability to relate to people in all ages and stages of life with her “keeping it real” approach to ordering a life around God’s Word. She blogs at her website, and is on Facebook and Twitter @nicoleunice. So these are the first five books I am giving away.  I will introduce you to the next five in my next post.

What about you?  Which would you like to win?
