Preparing for June 2 Worldwide Prodigal Prayer Day: Praying with the Lord’s Prayer
Dear Prodigal Lover
Once again, it is time for our focused Prodigal Prayer Day—June 2 for more than 20 years.
Some of you have been with us for all that time. Hopefully because your prodigal is no longer a prodigal, and you want to help others on their journey.
Many of you are in the middle of a long journey.
And some of you have just entered into these scary, heart-breaking days.
In past years I have written brief devotionals to help you be prepared to enter into enemy territory when we pray for our loved wanderers. This year I am inviting a friend to minister to all of us.
John Ortberg is a friend whose books have ministered to me deeply. He is now posting rich video content on great topics. I have recently listened to a wonderful series on the Sermon on the Mount. Toward the end he focuses on The Lord’s Prayer, each one commenting on one phrase from the prayer.
So for the next six weeks I will post one of the videos—each is about 15 minutes. The first five will help you focus on God’s engagement with you in the prodigal journey. The sixth one, on June 3, will address this question: Does Prayer Really Work?”
I encourage you to listen each week—I believe you will be blessed and prepared for Prodigal Prayer Day. I will share more about the day as we go.
This week we will start with “Understanding the Lord’s Prayer”: https://becomenew.com/insurmountable/?wchannelid=n2gexj7bsr&wmediaid=o21mqr2kmt
Feel free to tell others you know who love a prodigal.
May God surprise you with His blessings in the days ahead,
Judy Douglass
P.S. I want to make you aware of two wonderful people who have their own prodigal journeys who carry much of the work in our Prayer for Prodigals ministry:
Susan Allendorf manages our Prayer for Prodigals website and this letter.
Lori Lloyd manages the Prayer for Prodigals Facebook Page—posting and responding.
