April 2023 - He Is Risen

He Is Risen

When I was growing up, Easter meant new dresses for my sisters and me, a pansy in a pot for each of us at the Flowering of the Cross Service, sometimes an egg hunt, and a really good dinner.

The true meaning of Easter—Jesus rising from the dead after being crucified, providing eternal life for us—only came alive for me after I met Jesus when I was 15. I fell in love with Jesus and gave my life to tell the world about Him, which I have been doing for many decades now.

A helpful way to comprehend the true meaning of Easter is by watching the Jesus Film. To see the reality, compassion, love and sacrifice of Jesus—and what He was willing to suffer to redeem you and me—just watch this three-minute scene from the Jesus film for the Gamo people in Africa.

And/or, watch this three-minute video about the translation into the 2000th language, the Zo language of Myanmar:

Universal Studios, a Band Festival, Family

One of the advantages of living in Orlando is that schools send my grandchildren here. And then my daughter comes also.

My eighth-grade grandboy traveled with his school band to get taught by professional composers and conductors, to perform several numbers, and to spend several days enjoying Universal Studios.

He stayed with his band, but his mom, Debbie, stayed with me. We had sweet time together, she helped me make progress on the many tasks I still have to do since Steve left, and we were in awe that an 8th-grade band could sound as good as they did. And I loved having breakfast the last morning with my grandboy at Universal’s City Walk.

So How Am I Doing?

This is still the most common question I get asked since Steve left and moved to Glory. I have good days, and still some pretty hard days. Jesus continues to fulfill His promise—given before He rose from the dead and again to me personally after my husband’s death: “I will be with you.”

I have loved blessing my Facebook followers with a weekly post of something written by Steve or about him. Here’s one I think you will enjoy: Living Out Multiplication

Two songs have been especially helpful to me—I listen to at least one of them nearly every day in my time with Jesus:

Giveaways!!

One of the things my husband did almost daily, as he encountered people wherever he went—on a plane, at a store or restaurant, at doctors’ offices—was say, “Are you much of a reader? I write books, and I would love to give you one if you would like it.” He was rarely turned down.

The books he gave were:

  • Enjoying Your Walk with God

  • How to Achieve Your Potential and Enjoy Life

  • How to Get Better Grades and Have More Fun

I would love to give away five of each book.  If you would like to receive one, reply to this letter and tell me which you would like. The first five to ask for each book will receive them.

May the peace and joy that Jesus gives flood your heart and your mind during this Easter month,

Judy Douglass
