Prodigal Prayer Day 2026: Transformation: Blessing
We are just a week away from June 2 and Worldwide Prodigal Prayer Day. To start us off on this fifth post to prepare us for focused prayer for prodigals we love, I offer you these amazing words from our God:
“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.” (Ephesians 1:3)
Let that sink in. You and I have been blessed with EVERY spiritual blessing in Heaven. Already. Freely given. Now. Available for the asking.
Okay, so what is blessing?
A few definitions:
Blessing is the projection of good into the life of another. To express good wishes or to offer prayer to God for someone’s welfare and benefit. Comfort, encouraging words, gifts, hugs are a few means of blessing.
And here is God’s blessing to us:
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)
What would happen—to us and to our prodigals—if blessing became a way of life for us?
We would be changed. Our outlook on life, our recognition that God is God and God is good, our faith and hope would grow us into a clearer, truer reflection of our God.
God would be glorified. People would receive our blessings—and begin to understand the source of those blessings.
The people in our lives would be changed. They would be lifted, encouraged, loved, believed in, given hope—they would be blessed.
And just maybe our prayers of repentance and for revival, along with this lifestyle of blessing, would create in those who don’t yet know our Lord a yearning for Him, a recognition of their sin but also of the grace and mercy offered for that sin, a desire to live forgiven, cherished, loved—and blessed.
Here are some specific blessings you could pray and speak for your loved ones:
A Blessing for You
May you know that God delights in you and is crazy in love with you.
(Zephaniah 3:17)
May you know that you have been rescued from darkness and brought into the light of the Son. (Colossians 1:13)
May you know that God will be with you when you go through the floodwaters and through the flames. (Isaiah 43:2)
May you be built up, not torn down; planted, not uprooted. May you turn to God with all your heart. (Jeremiah 24:6-7)
May you comprehend that it gives God joy to always do good to you.
(Jeremiah 32:40-41)
May all the days and years of your life stolen by the evil one be restored.
(Joel 2:25)
May the light of your life shine brightly into the darkness around you.
(Matthew 5:14)
May God take the hurts and losses of your life and redeem them in great blessing and healing to many people. (Isaiah 58)
May you never settle for less than God’s best.
Worldwide Prodigal Prayer Day is June 2nd. You can pray by yourself, but I recommend you find others to pray with--friends, family, church members, neighbors. You can pray in person, online, on the phone, for a few minutes, an hour, many hours.
