You Want Me to Do a Podcast?
I wasn’t looking for one more thing to do. I was barely keeping up with what I was already doing, and I was not getting to major important projects.
But there it was: An invitation to begin a podcast. On the topic of my book, When You Love a Prodigal. The thought of producing something every week was overwhelming—I can barely get a blogpost done each week.
I was ready to say “no”—it was too much.
My husband and my ministry team thought it was wonderful. Clearly God had opened this door—I should walk through it. I asked God to confirm yes or no.
Some Decision-making Help
Interestingly, I had just finished reading a book—Divine Direction, by Dr. Chinyere Peace Almona—to write an endorsement. The book features The Five-Way Directional Model. So I decided to use it to help me make this decision.
The book recommends that, in all levels of decision making, we look five ways: forward, backward, inward, outward, and upward. Each one led me to a clear “yes.”
That confirmed for me that He said “yes.”
So, hopefully on February 16, you can listen to my brand-new podcast, not surprisingly named When You Love a Prodigal. With the same name as my book, they should each enhance the other and touch more lives of those in a prodigal wilderness journey.
I have already recorded the first two episodes, which introduce me and tell the beginning story of our Josh. The next episodes will give some details of our challenging journey with Josh over the next 15 years. Then I will begin to talk about truths from my book, understanding what God says to us, where prodigal choices might be coming from, lessons and gifts from the wilderness. I will begin to include some interviews with helpful, knowledgeable people. And who knows what else.
A Sneak Peek
Here is Episode 0, which is a two-minute trailer. The podcast will be hosted by Charisma Podcast Network and will air wherever you listen to podcasts every Tuesday and available afterward.
We will have a landing page on my website at JudyDouglass.com. You will be able to listen to all episodes there.. Plus there are many other resources there on the Media Page—audio and video content, a free prayer booklet, free printables to encourage you, and more.
I hope you will join me and tell any friends who love a prodigal,
What about you? How has God surprised you lately?
