Good Times with My Grandboys

It’s been a fun and fabulous week with my grandboys.

Partly because I was well prepared.

I love to have surprises, activities, treats ready for them.  This time was no exception.

Arrival surprises included walkie talkies and animal masks to color and assemble.

The fridge  was stocked with favorite foods and fruits, the pantry with desired cereals and peanut butter. Ice cream and popsicles made yummy desserts.

New books and movies appeared throughout the week.  Bedtime stories were a highlight.

We painted and cut and glued.  We played games and built strange structures.

Foam airplanes were quick to put together and quicker to get destroyed.

The old ride-on motorcycle and the big wheel made endless rounds around our downstairs.

And oh yes, we visited friends and spent a day at the beach and a day at Legoland. All these were awesome!

Did they have fun?  Oh yes!!Did I spoil them?  One might say so.

Did they know Jeedoo loves them?  You bet. Were the gifts and activities frivolous?  Some were.  But most encouraged creativity, reading skills, motor skills, exercise…and joy!

And my point is?

That’s how God feels about us.

He is thrilled when we come to visit Him.  He prepares well and waits eagerly for our arrival.

He has good gifts for us—some are educational, others developmental.  Most are quite creative.  And yes, a few are just for fun.

He especially likes to plan for meaningful time together.

Jesus Himself tells us that all this gives Him great joy:  If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! (Matthew 7:11)

What about you?  What good gifts has God given you?
